SAM SMALL NICHOLAS FOLLAND SAM WILDE HAYLEY ARJONA Cleanskin 2 JULY-2 AUGUST 1998 An exhibition curated by Sam Small. Cleanskin featured the work of four local emerging artists. The show was fresh and sharp, and signalled a new vitality and self-consciously smart attitude towards making and showing work. The exhibition was widely talked about and received lots of covergae and interest. Its 'pop' sensibility was accessible, and the works realised their debt to the recent history of conceptual art in Adelaide. Curator Samantha Small installed the works so that they interacted with the architecture of the EAF gallery and the foyer (Small's chequered floor tiles have remained in the foyer as a semi-permanent intervention). |
