linda lou murphy’s installation un/gather includes live performance, photography, sound, moving image and sculpted objects. Known for her eerie performances that include the adornment of the body by complex folded paper forms — stitched and pleated — murphy’s practice explores sensory responses to things and events. Recent works include; drawing threads (2004-2006); drawing breathe (2005); ruffwork (2006) and blackwork (2006). The interplay between skin/paper, artefact/body, and toxicity as a positive force are some of the themes that inform murphy’s work.
linda lou murphy is the creative facilitator and founder of performance group shimmeeshok, who have been producing work since 1998.
