_[net]blog to log][ah!rhythm][_
MEZ Website _[net]blog to log][ah!rhythm][_ is a reverse-engineered weblog - read: _bio_log_ as opposed 2 a standardized weblog. this meshwork of biology + technology [in log form] is inscribed using the polysemic language system termed _mezangelle_, which evolved/s from multifarious email exchanges, computer code-flavoured language and net iconographs. To _mezangelle_ means to take words/wordstrings/sentences and alter them in such a way as to extend and enhance meaning beyond the predicted or the expected. It's similar to making plain text hypertextual via the arrangement and dissection of words. _Mezangelling_ attempts to expand traditional text parameters through layered/alternative/code based meanings embedded into meta-phonetic renderings of language. _[net]blog to log][ah!rhythm][_ uses the net.work as potential for bio_mimicry, utilizing bio_units [readers ie hence potential collaborators] as a standard of interaction. http://www.livejournal.com/users/netwurker Biography "Mez does for code poetry as jodi and Vuk Cosic have done for ASCII Art: Turning a great, but naively executed concept into something brilliant, paving the ground for a whole generation of digital artists." (Florian Cramer). The impact of her unique code/net.wurks [constructed via her pioneering net.language "mezangelle"] has been compared with the work of Shakespeare, James Joyce, Emily Dickinson, and Larry Wall. Mez has exhibited extensively since the early 90's [eg Wollongong World Women Online 1995, CTHEORY's Digital Dirt, ISEA_97 Chicago, ARS Electronica_97, The Metropolitan Museum Tokyo, SIGGRAPH_99&00, _Under_Score_ @ The Brooklyn Academy of Music 01, +playengines+ 03, and p0es1s 04.]. Mez is also a networked jillaroo, an online journalist and co-moderator of the _arc.hive_ experimental mailing list. Her awards include the 2001 VIF Prize by the Humboldt-Universitat, the JavaMuseum Artist Of The Year 2001, and the 2002 Newcastle New Media Poetry Prize. She was also a finalist for both the 2001 Electronic Literature Organization's Fiction Award and the 2002 READ_ME Artistic Software Award. AUSTRALIA http://www.hotkey.net.au/~netwurker |
