A great book- Picassos Collected Poems with an introduction by Jerome Rothenberg & Pierre Joris, an essay The Nomadism of Picasso by Joris, & and afterword by Michel Leiris. Begun during a long lay-off from painting, but continued intermittently thereafter, Picassos poetry was important to him &, he joked, might become what he was best remembered for. Market forces make that unlikely but his writing is significant in its own right and as a journal of the artists soul (in Bretons phrase). The usual beautiful Exact Change production. |
