DARK HORSEY SAYS- An anthology of writings by the Oulipo,a group based in France of mainly French & European writers & thinkers about writing. To join you have to invent a new form with strct rules. The intention is to make these forms available to writers everywhere & to reorientate writing away from purely personal expression - toiwards the pleasures of 'restrictive form'- eg Perec's novel without the letter 'e'. Hard to do, great to read. Harry Mathews is one of the Ou Li Po masters (Includes Harry Mathews, Georges Perec, Calvino, Raymond Queneau & others). |
