BUKATMAN, Scott |
| DESCRIPTION |
|
Bukatman details the making of Blade Runner and its steadily improving fortunes after its release in 1982. He situates the film in terms of debates about postmodernism which have informed the large body of criticism devoted to the film. He argues that while the film explores the tensions fundamental to a postmodern era of bewildering technological change, it derives from the quintessentially twentieth-century, modernist experience of the city - the experience of a space both imprisoning and liberating. |
