2002 Artist in Residence DENISE KUM
The Experimental Art Foundation invited Auckland-born and currently London-based artist, Denise Kum, to be artist-in-residence to develop and present a new installation project.

Kum's practice involves the use of industrial synthetic materials and substances (oils, commercial lubricants and polymers). Her installation project for the Experimental Art Foundation raises issues about concepts of waste and reticulation. Methods of display and decor, and the metaphoric capacities of virulence, mutation and the fictive space.

UNIVERSE
is a web publication, net broadcast and series of exhibitions that explore ideas about space and time in relation to cosmology. Information about our own galaxy, about the origins of the universe, and space and matter are commonplace in the news and mass-media. No longer the realm of science fiction, we are coming to terms with the reality of inhabiting a planet in space. How does a new understanding of cosmology affect our perceptions of time, space, locality and global culture?
