The artist's work references many different codings and languages: from
those of advertising, fine art practice, popular culture and gay iconography
in works that help blur the boundaries between these seemingly discrete
areas. "Hamlet Machine (not)" interrogates ideas of the transgressive
within the romantic constructions of the art-world, be it the doomed romantic
beautiful boy (Kurt Cobain) or the murderer (Martin Bryant) - representative
of the figures that have been fetishised as 'outsiders' by artists and art
movements.
